Player-safe harvest festival market battle map with a square grid

Original player map: 30 × 20 squares, 70 pixels per square, 2100 × 1400 pixels. Assume one square equals 5 feet or 1.5 meters. No GM clues are printed on the player files.

For a VTT, set the scene grid to 30 × 20 and 70 pixels per square. For print, keep the source at full resolution and print at your chosen physical square size; a large map may need tiled pages.

Run this encounter

At the opening of The Vanishing Harvest, a nervous baker accuses a traveling peddler of stealing the feast grain. The peddler has actually found a trail of amber seeds. Let characters question witnesses while carts and festival guests create moving obstacles.

  • The central brazier is warm but can be safely doused; use it as a visible landmark, not an automatic damage source.
  • Market stalls are 3 × 3 squares. A creature can duck behind canvas and tables for cover; a toppled stall blocks a lane until cleared.
  • The north and south road stays at least four squares wide, giving groups room to negotiate or chase without forcing combat.
GM-only clue and placement

Place the amber seed clue under the northwestern green stall. If the group misses it, the cider seller points out a bird carrying the same glowing seed toward the pumpkin field.
